On November 7 Judge Scott Gardner, the juvenile court judge for the 22nd Judicial District Court, will host an event to celebrate children and families coming together through foster care adoption.
The 22nd Judicial District Court Adoption Day ceremony begins at 9:00 A.M. at the St. Tammany Parish Justice Center located at 701 N. Columbia Street in Covington and includes a presentation with a reception.
Several families will also finalize their adoptions with Judge Gardner.
The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Covington Region, is supporting this year’s Adoption Day celebration. Covington Region DCFS completed 142 foster care adoptions this year.
Each year in November, hundreds of communities across the country organize similar events in recognition of National Adoption Day, a collective effort to help raise awareness of the need to find safe, loving and permanent homes for the more than 113,000 children waiting to be adopted from foster care in the United States.
