
Election Results: In the St Tammany Parish President’s race Mike Cooper held off Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer 51% to 48%.
Meanwhile St Tammany Sheriff Randy Smith was easily reelected with 61% of the vote.
In the 22 JDC A judge race it was Alan Black with 52% of the vote. In Judge B Tara Zeller won with 52%.
In Senate District 1 Owen wins with 78%. In Senate District 12 the incumbent Beth Mizell easily won reelection with 78% of the vote. Dr Bill Wheat gets in on the first ballot with 60% of the vote in District 37.
Kimberly Landry Coates wins House District 73 with 53%. For House District 74 Peter Egan leads the way with 46%. In the crowded House District 89 Kim Carver led the field with 43%, followed by Allison with 26%. Mary Dubisson will be in a runoff with Brian Glorioso after they got 47% and 43% in House District 90.
In Tangipahoa Parish, the Sheriff’s race was closely watched to see who will replace longtime Sheriff Daniel Edwards. Gerald Sticker and Chris Gideon will be in a runoff, which Sticker leading the crowded field with 37% and Gideon with 27%. Gary Stanga wins easily in the Clerk of Court and Kevin Raiford will be the Tangipahoa Assessor.
In Washington Parish, Ryan Seal and Malinda Brumfield White are in a run-off to succeed Ned Thomas as Parish President and incumbent Sheriff Randy “Country” Seal finds himself running second in a run-off with challenger Jason Smith who led the ballot with 42 %. Turnout was over 43 percent.
