The TPSO is currently investigating allegations of a teacher-student relationship at a local high school.
Sheriff Daniel Edwards confirmed a report was taken on Sunday, September 24, 2023, alleging a 17 YO male fathered a child with a Tangipahoa Parish School System employee.
Upon receiving the allegation, sheriff’s office juvenile detectives immediately began investigating the claims. Due to the specific nature of the investigation and the alleged involvement of a juvenile, the sheriff’s office will not release further information, nor will they comment due to privacy laws, to uphold the integrity of the investigation.
A representative with the Tangipahoa Parish School System confirmed that the teacher implicated in the investigation recently resigned from her position.
The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
Sheriff Edwards feels it’s necessary to remind the public of the dangers and implications of spreading false information or rumors, primarily through social media outlets. Doing so could detrimentally affect those involved and the outcome of the investigation.
