An inmate from the St. Tammany Correctional Center is hospitalized following an apparent suicide attempt.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday, an STPSO Correctional deputy located Ronald Willette Jr. attempting to hang himself in a top tier of the maximum security quarantine dorm where he was being housed.
He was awaiting trial on a charge of Aggravated Crimes Against Nature – Victim Under 13 Years of Age.
Correctional deputies provided life saving measures, and he was breathing and had a strong pulse when emergency medical personnel arrived to transport him.
Willette was taken to a local hospital and listed as being in critical but stable condition.
