Deputies with the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office investigated a fatal ATV crash which occurred Saturday night near Bush.
At approximately 7 p.m. Saturday, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Grande Hills neighborhood near Bush in reference to an ATV crash.
Through their investigation, responding deputies learned two female juveniles (12 and 13 YO) were riding an ATV on Churchill Downs Drive just south of Hialeah Drive when for an unknown reason the ATV went off the roadway and struck a tree.
The girls were transported by emergency medical personnel to local hospitals.
The 12 YO succumbed to her injuries early Sunday morning.
Sheriff Randy Smith called it a parent’s worst nightmare and said their thoughts and prayers go out to the families of both girls.
