From our weather partners at WDSU: We’ve been experiencing a very hot, recording breaking week so far and it will continue through the weekend.
These dangerous temperatures have already broken records, and more records could be tied or broken this weekend.
Our streak for days at or above 99 degrees in New Orleans is three and we tied that stretch on Tuesday with three 99 degree days from Sunday through Tuesday. Highs will be near 100 degrees through the weekend, causing WDSU to issue Weather Alert Days.
Of all weather phenomena, heat is the number one killer. Check on your older and ill neighbors, wear your hat and shades and sunscreen, wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing, and take breaks in the shade or air conditioning if working outdoors. Check the back seat and never leave kids or pets unattended. Limit strenuous activities outside and stay hydrated.
