From our weather partners at WDSU.
There will be a Heat Advisory again today from noon to 7PM. Heat index values up to 112 are expected. A weather pattern change will take place over the weekend as the ridge of high pressure dominating the local forecast will get pushed back to the west by a developing trough. This trough will promote more cloud cover and better rain chances beginning late Saturday and carrying over into Sunday.
WDSU also said a tropical wave a few hundred miles South of the Cabo Verde Islands and off the Coast of Africa has a low chance for tropical development in 3-7 days. It is unlikely to develop within the next 48 hours. The wave is over record warm Atlantic waters. Water temperatures are running in the low to mid 80s. Warm water is the fuel for tropical development. In time the dust and wind shear are forecast to diminish, and may allow the tropical wave the opportunity to develop. Global forecast models have not been in agreement day to day on whether the system will develop.
