In June Sheriff Randy Smith adopted the Fiscal Year 2024 Operating Budget for the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Acknowledging the agency’s greatest asset is its employees, Sheriff Smith made increasing deputy salaries a priority of his administration and considers it an investment for the agency to hire and retain highly qualified personnel. With the new fiscal year budget, Sheriff Smith approved a 3.5 percent pay increase for employees who have been with the agency at least 6 months. Newer employees are receiving a 1.5 percent raise.
Sheriff Smith said the pay raises enable deputies and their families to enjoy a better quality of life and the agency benefits by rewarding experience and education, and by recruiting and retaining quality employees.
