Entergy says bills are lower for consumers than last year due to decreased natural gas prices, despite excessive heat warnings and record-shattering temperatures.
The utility wrote a letter to consumers statewide laying out the reasoning behind the drop in bill prices statewide over last year. The utility reported that natural gas costs are down more than 50 percent from the past year. Natural gas costs are passed onto consumers through fuel surcharges on bills.
Entergy also laid out a set of recommendations for customers to help reduce their bills: Change air filters; Set the thermostat to 78 degrees or the highest comfortable temperature; Buy a programmable thermostat; Use fans to cool off; Close blinds, shades and curtains to keep the sun out and the cool air in; And make sure to seal cracks and holes around doors, windows and ductwork.
