The former director of Slidell’s Planning Department was killed in an RV crash on I-10 in south Mississippi Saturday afternoon.
78 YO Martin Bruno died at the scene of the crash near the Menge Avenue exit. His wife, 77 YO Eileen Bruno, was critically injured and airlifted to a hospital.
Authorities said the accident occurred about 3:30 p.m. when Bruno’s motorhome left the roadway and struck a tree.
Westbound I-10 traffic was backed up for hours as lanes were closed to allow the helicopter to land.
Bruno was planning director for the City of Slidell for 14 years and was a former president of the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation.
