Twenty-first Judicial DA Scott M. Perrilloux says last week 17 YO Jikeem Abron of Hammond pleaded no contest to two counts of the felony charge of armed robbery, and he was sentenced to serve 20 years with the Department of Corrections.
In accordance with Louisiana’s Children’s Code Article 305, Abron forfeited the exclusive jurisdiction of the juvenile court following the bill of indictment which charged him with two counts of armed robbery.
On May 21, 2022, the Hammond Police Department (HPD) was notified of a carjacking of a white Nissan Maxima which occurred at the intersection of JW Davis Dr. and Phoenix Sq. in Hammond. The complainant explained two black males approached their vehicle and motioned for them to roll down the window. The complainant continued to say they were concerned for the subjects due to them appearing young. The subjects then asked the complainant for a ride, but they explained they did not have time to drive them. At this point, the subjects held the victim at gunpoint and demanded they give them their vehicle. Police recovered the vehicle later.
A second carjacking occurred shortly thereafter and authorities were able to gather enough evidence to identify Abron as one of the perpetrators.
