Road Work Ahead signs have started popping up across Tangipahoa Parish as the Phase 2023 overlay program prepares to start.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said the contracts have been signed and work will begin shortly on the program, which includes approximately 24 miles of overlay to be completed parish wide.
During the week of May 15, 2023, crews are scheduled to begin soil cement operations on Stateline Road in northern Tangipahoa Parish. Crews are also scheduled to begin milling and patching on South Laurel Street. Miller encouraged motorists to use caution when traveling in these work zones. Flagging crews or other traffic measures may need to be put in place, as needed, during these projects.
In other news about road work in Tangipahoa Parish, Miller announced that improvements on the Traino Road bridge are continuing. On Tuesday, May 9, Tangipahoa Parish Road and Bridge crews called for an emergency closure of the bridge, located south of LA 22 in the Bedico area due to structural issues. Crews worked around-the-clock and were able to reopen the bridge later that day; however, more work is planned on the route.
Miller reminds residents that the parish continues to compile a list of locations where utility wires are still hanging low, dangling, or even piled on the ground from Hurricane Ida.
