Yesterday the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System voted unanimously to name Dr. William Wainwright the fifteenth president of Southeastern Louisiana University.
Dr. Wainwright said he was very optimistic about the future of Southeastern and that the students’ success would strengthen our local communities and economies.
The Southeastern Louisiana Presidential Search Committee narrowed the field to two finalists, Dr. Sebastian van Delden and Dr. Wainwright, after interviewing five semifinalists on Southeastern’s campus last week.
Dr. Wainwright has 24 years of higher education experience including over 20 years in administration with the Louisiana Community and Technical College System. He has served as Chancellor of Northshore Technical and Community College since 2011.
Wainwright is a Louisiana native and a graduate of three UL System member institutions: University of New Orleans, Northwestern State University and University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
