Anyone under 21 would be prohibited from entering or working at bars in Louisiana if Sen. Beth Mizell from Franklinton has her way.
She says the death of LSU student Madison Brooks earlier this year raised questions and motivated her to find safeguards to make sure it could not happen again.
19 YO Madison Brooks died in January after being struck by a vehicle after leaving a Baton Rouge bar. Mizell says Brooks’ mother supports her bill. Police say Brooks left a Baton Rouge bar with four males she met at the establishment. Two of them are accused of raping her. Further, police say after the males dropped Brooks off in a neighborhood, she was struck by a car and later died.
Reggie’s liquor license was suspended after one of the underage suspects told police the group was drinking at the bar that night.
It is already against the law to sell alcohol to anyone under 21 in Louisiana.
