Bogalusa Mayor Tyrin Truong said that a post made to social media earlier this week that threatened his life has gone too far.
At a press conference yesterday, the newly-elected mayor was joined by the Bogalusa Police Department and the Washington Parish NAACP where he released more details about the threat.
Bogalusa Police said the comment was made on Wednesday on Facebook, and it alluded to the mayor being careful about what he says or he might be taken for a ride on Lake Pontchartrain.
Truong said the threat was racially motivated.
Police are actively investigating the incident, a joint effort by BPD and Louisiana State Police. The mayor said more security measures will be taken at city hall, including more security cameras and metal detectors at the building’s entrance.
The 23 YO Truong was elected into office last November, upsetting incumbent Wendy Perrette.
