
Robert H. Burns American Legion Post 16 is hosting an Open House Saturday, May 6.
The purpose of the event is to rededicate the building following its recent major renovations.
The event is open to the public and sponsored by the Veterans Administration and Longbranch NORA, a treatment center for veterans with PTSD and substance abuse issues.
The Open House will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Post’s location at 2031 Ronald Reagan Highway.
The event will begin at 6 pm with the rededication.
At 7 pm, Longbranch NORA will be hosting and providing a dinner.
The finale of the evening will be a movie presentation of 22: The Unforgotten Soldiers. It was recently released for viewing on Amazon Prime and is receiving exceptional reviews. This special event will be among its first public viewings. The movie’s goal is to bring awareness to the alarming rate of PTSD and suicide among veterans. American Legion Post 16 is proud of its association with actor, director and producer, Sam Medina; assistance in production of the film by Post 16 member, Charles R. Rooney, and appearances by members Rooney and Ignatius DeSandro in the film. In addition, over 80% of the cast are combat veterans. Don’t miss this private viewing of the hour and forty-minute film concerning two Marines, from different generations, bonding over time to fight the real battle after coming home from war in order to survive the statistic of 22 suicides per day.
