Although wearing a DOT approved helmet, Boggs suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. A passenger on the Kawasaki, also wearing a DOT approved helmet, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The driver of the Volvo was properly restrained and was uninjured.
Routine toxicology samples were collected from both drivers for analysis.
Speed is suspected to be a contributing factor in this crash and the investigation is ongoing.
