Slidell Police said there were two incidents that were successfully handled while working the Krewe of Antheia Parade.
In the first one Officer Tricoche received a complaint of a male brandishing a firearm in his waistband, near the intersection of Front Street and East Hall Avenue. After being provided a description of the subject by the complainant, Officer Tricoche quickly located the subject on Front Street. Officer Tricoche and Officer Williams further investigated the incident, which subsequently led to the arrest of the male subject and the removal of a firearm from the parade route.
Meanwhile Sergeant Morris, Detective Peck and Officer McMahan were working near Capital One on Gause Boulevard and they also received a complaint of a male subject brandishing a firearm on the parade route. It was reported that the male subject got into a verbal altercation with another parade goer. The male subject was also accompanied by another male, who stated he had a firearm. As Sergeant Morris, Detective Peck and Officer McMahan, were approaching the subjects, one of the male subjects attempted to hide the fanny pack he was wearing from officers. After further investigation, it was discovered that both subjects were concealing firearms inside of their packs. A juvenile then began intervening by cursing at officers and refusing to cooperate. All three subjects were placed under arrest and more firearms were removed from the parade route.
