A 16 YO Bush boy was arrested after he pointed an air-soft gun at a school bus Tuesday afternoon.
A bus driver was bringing students home on Watts Thomas Road in Bush when she observed the teen pointing what appeared to be a firearm at the bus. Fearing for the safety of the children in her care, the driver quickly left the area and called 911.
Responding St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies located the teen and learned the firearm was an unloaded air-soft gun.
No one was injured and there was no damage caused to the school bus.
The teen was issued a summons for Simple Assault and was released to his legal guardian on a custodial agreement to appear in court.
Sheriff Randy Smith wants this to serve as a warning to other teens who may think it is funny to joke around with guns of any kind. He said what one may consider a joke, can be taken very seriously by another.
