
Yesterday the forecast for flooding on the Tangipahoa River changed from Minor to Moderate.
This could have impacts in Osyka, Kentwood, Amite and Robert.
Moderate flooding is forecast for the Tangipahoa River near Robert until further notice. At 18.0 feet, Evacuation of trailers at Hidden Oaks must be completed. Water covers the entrance to campground. Secondary roads and unimproved roads north of Robert will flood as Chappepeela Creek backs up. Low places on Highway 22 south of Robert will be under water. The river was expected to rise above flood stage late yesterday and continue rising to a crest of 18.0 feet this evening. Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
This crest compares to a previous crest of 18.0 feet on 04/14/1969.
