From December 16 through January 2 the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office along with other local agencies will be working a special campaign as part of the grant called “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” to enforce local and state laws.
The WPSO received a grant in the amount of $35,490.00 from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. The funds will be used to pay off duty deputies’ overtime to work traffic enforcement such as DWI, seatbelt violations and Juvenile Underage Drinking Enforcement (JUDE).
Sheriff Randy Seal said they want people to know that they are out there every day looking for drivers who are not wearing their seatbelts and children who are not properly restrained and he reminds people it is critical to buckle up every time they travel in a vehicle.
