The Covington Police Department will be holding a press conference today at 10 AM at the St Tammany Parish Emergency Operations Center Media Room to discuss an apparent double homicide where two victims were located burned beyond recognition in the 500 block of E. Gibson Street.
The Covington Police Department developed a suspect, Antonio Donde Tyson (B/M, D.O.B. 08/22/1973) of Covington, who was taken into custody and booked on 2 counts of First Degree Murder, 2 counts of Second Degree Kidnapping, and other charges.
The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s office will disclose the identities of the homicide victims, but the double homicide occurred just hours after longtime St. Peter Catholic Church priest Otis Young and church assistant Ruth Pratts were reported missing.
A prayer vigil was held for them at the church.
Both St. Scholastica Academy and St. Peter School in downtown Covington closed early on Monday due to the crime scene investigation.
