Deputies with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office were conducting a murder/suicide investigation after they were dispatched to Acadiana Avenue in Denham Springs around 10 pm on November 21.
They identified the victim as 73 YO Patricia Blue.
The suspect was named as 74 YO Carl Altazin.
Sheriff Jason Ard said the pair was found unresponsive. Their investigation revealed the female suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso while the male had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the upper extremities.
Detectives learned the two had argued earlier in the evening.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office said with this elderly couple there was a history of domestic violence issues.
Both Blue and Altazin were former employees of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, but they retired in 2005.
