Yesterday, after cancelling classes for the day, UNO reported that a suspect was in custody and classes would resume today.
According to UNO, the suspect was a former student who entered a classroom last week and began acting erratically.
The New Orleans Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, UNO Police, and the United States Marshal’s worked together to arrest 22 YO Karam Mohammed in connection with terrorizing, stalking, and unlawful disruption of the operation of a school.
UNO said the student was seen in a video Friday purchasing an assault rifle at a gun store, which prompted the campus closure.
UNO officials said the suspect is in custody and poses no potential threat to the UNO community.
