On Friday a Tangipahoa Parish jury found Reginald Reed guilty in the 1987 murder of his wife, Selonia Reed.
The decision was unanimous.
Sentencing is set for January 2023.
In August of 1987, Selonia Reed’s body was discovered in a car parked outside of a convenience store on East Thomas Street. Although detectives worked several leads, an arrest did not happen until 2019, when Hammond Police received information that resulted in the arrest of Reginald Reed and a second man, Jimmy Ray Barnes.
At the time of the indictments in June 2019, DA Scott Perrilloux said the case was never closed and said that technological advances assisted in obtaining the arrests.
