Chief Travis says a person of interest has been taken into custody on unrelated charges in the deaths of a Hammond mother and daughter over the weekend.
Travis said criminal charges for the homicide had not been signed at that time.
The identity of the subject in custody was not being released, as the investigation was still on going.
This incident is being investigated as a domestic homicide, and any further developments will be reported as they become available.
Two victims, 37 YO Brandy Smith and her 17 YO daughter Raven Smith, both died from gunshot wounds. Brandy sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. Raven was transported to North Oaks Medical Center where she also succumbed to her injuries.
