Covington Rotary says their annual “Feeding the Needy Luncheon” will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd and raises money to feed 1,500 needy St. Tammany and Washington Parish families.
The food package consists of a 14-16 pound Turkey, all the trimmings, multiple packages of Red Beans and Rice, dessert, and more.
Feeding the Needy focuses on the children of these families who depend on the meals they receive at school for their main source of nutrition and do not receive these meals over the Christmas holidays.
Last year was the first time since they first began Feeding the Needy in 2002 that they lost money, over $19,000.
This year LSU Baseball Coach Jay Johnson will be the guest speaker. He is an inspiration to all of those around him, as well as the sports world in general.
Tickets, tables, and sponsorships can be purchased online at www.covrotary.org.
Doors open at 11:30 AM and lunch will be served at 12 PM at the Briggs Assembly Center at St. Paul’s School in Covington.
