It has been a year since the city selected a partner to re-develop the old Six Flags site, and now the company selected says the deal is far from done and on shaky ground.
Bayou Phoenix, won the bid to redevelop the massive site, says the city wants too much control over what is done on the site.
The amusement park, closed since Hurricane Katrina made landfall in 2005, is an eyesore in New Orleans East.
The proposed plan calls for sports parks, a recreation area, a hotel, as well as other business development at the site.
Yesterday the Industrial Development Board, which controls the property, says it was ready to transfer the park to the city while negotiations with Bayou Phoenix continue. That transfer did not happen. One board member said the longer it takes, the greater the deal has a chance of falling apart.
