Early this morning the St Tammany Sheriff’s Office reported that an individual was in custody and transported to the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center for booking.
The area was reported cleared and the roadways reopened.
This was from near Barque Place in the Southwind subdivision of Abita Springs. Deputies and members of the STPSO SWAT team were on scene with a subject who had barricaded himself inside a residence.
STPSO said as always, the safety of residents was their top priority, and the suspect was taken into custody safely and without any injury to him or the deputies. They said they knew that many people were temporarily inconvenienced last night and they appreciated everyone’s cooperation and patience.
