The St. Tammany Parish School Board unanimously adopted a proposal from the Board’s Business Affairs Committee Chairman Michael Nation to incorporate the “Louisiana Checkbook” model into its transparency initiatives.
Nation, who represents District 6 in Mandeville and surrounding areas, introduced the measure, which will result in the School Board’s ledger being published online each month.
The concept, championed by State Treasurer (and former Covington-area State Representative) John Schroder, requires that all transactions by public entities be posted online for public view.
Other local governments have adopted the same process.
