The Greater New Orleans Expressway Commission and the Causeway Police Department warned the public of impersonators who are calling residents asking for money to resolve alleged citations to avoid arrests.
According to CPD, perpetrators have requested victims to provide gift cards to resolve any citations so they will not get arrested by using numbers associated with the GNEOC.
The CPD accepts money to address a citation or avoid an arrest; however, all traffic-related collection matters are handled by the respective court jurisdictions.
The police warn that if anyone calls asking to pay a citation with a gift card, that call should be considered fraudulent.
