
The Louisiana Department of Health has a new online dashboard for the reporting of COVID information.
Yesterday they reported 3,855 new COVID cases over the weekend.
Of newly reported COVID cases, 835 were reinfections (defined as a positive viral COVID-19 test in an individual with a previous positive test at least 90 days prior).
651 were hospitalized, with 21 on ventilators.
The largest shares of newly reported cases were among ages 18-29 (17%) and ages 70+ (15%). Of the newly reported cases, 18% come from Region 1 (Greater New Orleans area) and 18% come from Region 7 (Northwest Louisiana).
16 additional COVID deaths were reported through the weekend.
Louisiana is currently experiencing its sixth COVID-19 surge.
CDC and LDH recommend everyone ages 6 months and above be vaccinated against COVID-19, and that everyone ages 5 and up should get boosted as soon as they are eligible.
