Northshore Food Bank recently held a ribbon cutting for its new 25 ft Isuzu box truck and announced its sponsors Chevron and Louisiana Healthcare Connections.
With the support of both Chevron and Louisiana Healthcare Connections, the new truck will allow the Food Bank to fight hunger in St Tammany Parish by safely procuring food donation pick-ups and making remote food distributions.
Chevron has been a loyal partner of Northshore Food Bank for over a decade and most recently awarded them a $50,000 grant to fuel this new truck, support their food program, provide emergency disaster assistance when needed, and to also sponsor our Pallets with Purpose event in November.
For nearly 10 years, Louisiana Healthcare Connections has been a generous donor to Northshore Food Bank. Most recently they have made a $30,000/annual commitment for 3 years to sponsor both this new truck and our food distribution boxes. They have also committed to sponsor our Pallets with Purpose event in November.
The new vehicle arrived and took to the roads in May. It will run regular 3 day/week routes to make grocer partner donation pick-ups, food drive pick-ups as well as remote distributions. In addition, these 2 large donations will help provide essential funding to purchase and package food for distribution to food insecure households in St Tammany Parish.
