The St Tammany Sheriffs Office says there is a subject calling citizens claiming to be Sgt. Carlos Flemings.
He proceeds to tell them they have an active warrant or attachment and that they need to pay a fine.
He asks them to transfer funds to him directly instead of going to the courthouse so they won’t be arrested.
He is calling from a blocked number as well as a spoofed number which may show up as one of the STPSO administrative lines.
This is a scam.
If you get a call from STPSO and want to verify the validity of that call then hang up and call back directly at 985-809-8200. Do not give out personal information over the phone.
STPSO does not contact individuals to take care of warrants and does not collect fines over the phone.
