The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office issued a statement yesterday regarding the missing men in Lake Maurepas.
It said for the past two days, the SFM had assisted the Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries, Livingston Parish Fire Protection District #9 and several other agencies in the search for three boaters in Lake Maurepas. They said they hold these men’s families in their prayers for peace and comfort as that search is now complete.
Wildlife & Fisheries reported they recovered all three bodies from Lake Maurepas. The bodies of the 18 YO & 20 YO were found around 6:30 pm near each other. Officials recovered the body of the 48 YO on the morning of June 27.
WLF agents now say they learned that the 18 YO was swimming when he became distressed. The 20 YO tried to rescue him but was also in distress. The 48 YO tried to rescue both young men, but was unsuccessful and the three men did not resurface. The men were a father, his son and his daughter’s boyfriend.
