The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for our area on Friday.
Feels like temperatures are forecast to reach 110-113°, which will be dangerous.
This is the first Excessive Heat Warning of the year for the metro New Orleans area and neighboring parishes.
Children, the elderly, and those with health conditions should try to stay inside Friday afternoon. Those that have to be outside for an extended period of time need to follow heat safety tips: stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, look before you lock, and seek medical attention if you begin the signs of heat-related illness.
Only a lucky few will see the cooling effects of a passing shower. Rain chances will remain low as we close out the week.
