The St. Tammany Parish Council will hold a public hearing to consider rolling forward millage rates at its regular meeting on July 7 at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
A roll forward is when the millage rate is increased after reassessment from the adjusted maximum millage rate to a rate not in excess of the “prior year’s maximum.”
As long as the increased rate will not exceed the voter-approved maximum millage rate, millage increases (roll forward) do not require further voter approval.
This is not a new tax and will not exceed the maximum millage rate approved by the voters.
The roll forward in unincorporated St. Tammany Parish would increase property taxes by $2.70 per $100,000 in home value.
The roll forward in municipalities within St. Tammany Parish would increase property taxes by $2.00 per $100,000 in home value.
