Imagine sitting in class for your first hour exam and you look out of your classroom window and spot a four-and-a-half-foot alligator.
That is what happened this morning at Slidell High School.
Around 10:00 am, Slidell Police School Resource Officer, Bridie Stevens, was alerted of an alligator that somehow made its way onto the school campus. Officer Stevens, along with SRO Sergeant Jeff Kahrs, contained the gator and had a 30-minute standoff before Slidell Police Animal Control arrived.
Animal Control Officer Emily Spohrer safely wrangled up the gator.

The 4.5 foot alligator was turned over to Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, which ensured its safe release back into the wild; however, if he returns, warrants have been issued for the gator for Trespassing and Prohibition of Interference with Educational Process.
All precautions were taken during the incident to ensure no students were in danger.
