
On April 18, at approximately 3:00 pm, the Hammond Police Department responded to a burglary in progress at a residence in the 200 block of College Drive.
Upon arrival, HPD officers made contact with the homeowner, who just arrived home after being out of town and found two unknown males at his house, one inside the house and the other outside. The homeowner asked one of the suspects, “What are you doing here?” The suspect replied that he was painting the house and his boss had dropped him and the other suspect off there.
The homeowner told them to leave and then called the police.
The suspects left the residence in an unknown direction.
In route to the residence, HPD officers saw two males fitting the description and were subsequently able to get the suspects into custody.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered the suspects made entry into the residence and stole multiple items.
The suspects, identified as 29 YO Dwan Harris of New Orleans and 26 YO Gregory Davis of Laplace, were booked into Hammond City Jail. Harris was charged with Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling, Criminal Damage, and Resisting an Officer by Flight. Davis was charged with Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and Criminal Damage.
