Sheriff Randy Smith was pleased to announce the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office received both the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 2022 budget and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020.
Both awards were presented by the Government Finance Officers Association, and the national awards represent a significant achievement by the agency and reflects the commitment of the agency and its staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting and financial reporting.
In order to receive the budget award, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.
In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the agency’s report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. This award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
