Ponchatoula Police said on Saturday night at 9:32 pm, they responded to a shooting in the 200 block of W. Hickory Street.
No injuries were reported.
The police department building was hit twice. A citizen’s vehicle was also hit.
Police recovered over a dozen shell casings at the scene and believe there were at least two shooters.
They are actively investigating and anyone with information is asked to contact Ponchatoula Police at 985-386-6548.
Police Chief Bry Layrisson thanked all of the assisting agencies for keeping citizens and visitors safe.
The Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival reopened at 9 a.m., on Sunday after closing early on Saturday, shortly before 10 p.m., after the gunshots were reported just a couple blocks away.
