School Superintendent Melissa Stilley and members of the Tangipahoa Parish School Board will be on hand Tuesday, April 5, in cooperation with town officials to announce big changes coming to the Independence schools in 2022.
The town hall style meeting begins at 5:30 p.m., in the council chambers of Independence City Hall, located at 473 W. Railroad Avenue, in Independence.
While elected officials from both the town and the school system will be on hand for this discussion, this meeting is only for the purpose of sharing information with the public. No votes will be taken by either elected body.
Independence is home to three schools: Independence Leadership Academy, which serves students in Pre-K to 4th Grade; Independence Magnet School, which houses students in Grades 5-8; and Independence High Magnet School, a 9-12th Grade campus which serves students from portions of Natalbany, Tickfaw, and Independence.
Stilley said the purpose of this meeting is to discuss exciting changes coming to these three schools and a reconfiguration of the grade levels served by each campus starting in August 2022.
