The expected severe weather pushed through the Northshore late yesterday, with several tornado warnings issued in addition to high wind and lots of rain.
The area was spared any widespread severe damage.
Wilmer and Roseland reported sporadic damage. On HWY 10 in Roseland, authorities in Tangipahoa Parish say one house was completely lifted off its foundation during the storms. The family inside made it out safely. At that time Highway 10 was blocked off due to several trees on the road.
In St Tammany Parish thousands of residents were without power at one point and President Mike Cooper visited the Lacombe area to check on neighbors and assess the damage. This was the areas second possible tornado in eight days. Some roads were impassable due to downed trees, including Highway 190, but they were cleared quickly.
There were reports of two possible tornadoes in St Tammany.
The first tornado was reported near Big Branch in Lacombe.
A second storm began near Lake Catherine. The storm, which was possibly a strong waterspout, moved over the lake and into portions of St. Tammany. There was radar indicated debris but officials in the area say there are no reports of damage.
