In the election for Hammond City Court Judge over the weekend Britain Sledge advanced to a runoff against Erica Williams.
Sledge was the leading vote getter with 38%. Williams received 26% of the vote.
The run-off election will be held April 30th.
A longtime assistant district attorney and City Court prosecutor, Sledge is running to succeed Judge Grace Gasaway, who passed away last year.
John Watts of Hammond finished third in Saturday’s race with 20 percent of the vote. Ponchatoula attorney Jenel Secrease completed the race in fourth place with 16 percent of the vote.
