
The historic Dew Drop Jazz & Social Hall, built in 1895 in Mandeville, is back with a full season of concerts presenting traditional jazz & blues, funky swamp pop and Cajun music – with a few surprises along the way.
For the six Saturday night evening concerts a variety of genres will be showcased by some of the region’s most notable musicians.
March 5 will be Dr. Redwine’s Grape Stompers, March 19 will be Jazz vocalist Ingrid Lucia and her all-star band, April 2 it is Camile Baudoin & Friends, April 16 the Dew Drop hosts Gregg Stafford & His Jazz Hounds, May 14 will feature the unique jazz folk stylings of Sarah Quintana & Friends, and May 21 two unique bands will perform one set each, starting with Doucet Frères, and the second set will showcase Michael Doucet’s new Cajun dance band, Lâcher Prise Trio.
Presented by the Friends of the Dew Drop, these six Saturday evening concerts will run from 6:30p.m. till 9:00p.m. and will feature home-cooked food for purchase provided by the Ladies of First Free Mission Baptist Church. Soft drinks, water, beer and wine will be available for purchase.
Admission for each concert is $10 cash per adult. Students and children can enter free.
No outside food, drinks or pets are allowed and lawn chairs can be used outside the hall on the grounds.
The mission of the Friends of the Dew Drop is to preserve the Dew Drop Jazz Hall and promote its significance in the origins and the cultural history of Mandeville though music performances, music education programs and benevolent activities in support of local and emerging artists.
