On December 26, 2021, the Hammond Police Department began investigating a burglary that occurred at Home Depot, located at 400 West Minnesota Park.
The suspect stole a U-Haul trailer from the local U-Haul facility, located at 1915 Southwest Railroad Avenue, parked the trailer near the garden center at Home Depot, and started loading the trailer with approximately $26,000 worth of merchandise.
When an employee arrived for work, the suspect was startled and left in his vehicle, leaving the trailer of merchandise behind.
