Yesterday St. Tammany Corp. CEO Chris Masingill and Duplantis Design Group Vice President of Engineering Tommy Buckel provided information regarding the multiple sports complex discussions currently underway.
Massingill did this in advance of a scheduled press conference this week by Stand Up St. Tammany to unveil development plans for the Thompson Road site, a 60-acre piece of land that the St Tammany Corp CEO says is not conducive to becoming a competitive travel youth sports complex.
Following the recent release of the East St. Tammany Sports Complex initial findings and proposed development plan, viewable at https://sttammanycorp.org/sports-tourism-complex-plan/, opponents of Camellia Bay have announced its plans to use a donated 60-acre site located on Thompson Road in Slidell for the construction of a sports complex.
Duplantis Design Group Vice President of Engineering Tommy Buckel presented a due diligence report about this speculative site and highlighted the differences between the $35 million East St. Tammany Sports Complex and the speculative Thompson Road site.
Of course, this weekend citizens will vote on the proposed casino and entertainment complex itself. Should that vote pass, then the developers have said they will fund a proposed sports park near their facility.
