
On November 25, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Hammond Police Department was dispatched to South Morrison Boulevard in reference to a vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, officers found three vehicles involved in the accident.
The first vehicle was southbound on South Morrison Boulevard, the second was eastbound on Chauvin Drive, and the third was northbound on South Morrison Boulevard. The southbound vehicle was struck by the eastbound vehicle and was then spun into the northbound vehicle and struck again.
The driver and passenger of the southbound vehicle were extricated by the Hammond Fire Department, and the driver, Joe Webber, 29 years old of Ponchatoula, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The passenger was transported by Acadian Ambulance to North Oaks Medical Center.
Two additional people from the vehicles were transported to Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Impairment is not suspected at this time; however, samples were taken to be submitted to the state crime lab for analysis.
This crash is still under investigation.
