The Livingston Parish Council unanimously passed an ordinance to create new safety rules on the Amite River.
The new ordinance adds the following requirements for people on the river.
They must provide video to people before they go tubing.
Life jackets are mandatory.
Signs must be displayed that show starting and stopping points, potentially in dangerous areas and areas deeper than four feet.
And there must be mile marker indicators to let tubers know where they are.
These steps were taken after numerous incidents on the river this past summer.
