The St Tammany Chamber says they are now in support the proposed 0.40% sales tax on the November 13 ballot.
In an email to members the Chamber wrote that they spent a long time studying the need for a new criminal justice tax, as well as of the Chamber’s potential support of it. The Chamber said they are looking at the future of the parish and want to support maintaining a functional criminal justice system and they say this can only be accomplished with adequate funding.
So, after much deliberation by their Advocacy & Public Policy Committee, who encouraged the Board to support the proposed 0.40% sales tax on the November 13 ballot, and after hosting the “Re-invest in Safety” webinar, the decision was made last week to endorse the proposal.
